West coast commentary nets national news profile

When Maneesha Deckha set out to write an op ed about the legal status of animals as property, she wasn’t looking to become the story.

But her informative piece, published last week in the Victoria Times Colonist, attracted the attention of National Post reporter, Joe O’Connor, who interviewed Maneesha for a feature that appeared in his paper yesterday.

As a result, the little known context that Maneesha provided in her original commentary has now reached a much larger audience.

And because O’Connor’s Q and A interview was accompanied by a photograph of an adorable puppy,  the likelihood of it being read increased exponentially.
