Citizen commissions comment from IO grad

Whatever your feelings about last week’s election outcome, the increase in the number of women holding seats is a step in the right direction. Nancy Peckford, Executive Director of Equal Voice provided some context to this aspect of the results in last week’s Ottawa Citizen.

And she did so at the request of the paper. Having already published two pieces in the paper in the past 6 months, she’d become a known and trusted authoritative source on the issue. As a result, they contacted her to commission the commentary. Although this meant a very quick turnaround, the guarantee of an audience several hundred thousand strong is a good motivator.
